New Voice and Piano Instructor
Voice and piano instructor, Caroline Stephenson has joined the teaching staff of the Salisbury School of Music, 213 S. Main Street in Salisbury, NC.
“I enjoy working with beginning and advanced students of all ages,” she says, “and look forward to discovering and cultivating their musicianship and performing skills.” Caroline is currently accepting new students.
As a teacher, Caroline strives to personalize instruction based on students’ needs, strengths, and overall expectations. Caroline has been teaching in her own studio in downtown Salisbury since 2011 and is excited to join the Salisbury School of Music. The Salisbury School of Music Artistic Director, Marc Hoffman says, “We are delighted to have Caroline join us at the school. She brings great talent and teaching skills and is an asset to our staff.”
Caroline Stephenson holds the Bachelor’s of Music degree in Vocal Performance, Summa Cum Laude, and also the Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance, Honors, from Winthrop University where she was a Founder’s Scholar and Graduate Assistant in the Department of Music.
Currently, Caroline serves as an adjunct faculty member at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and Central Piedmont Community College where she teaches Music Appreciation and American Music. Other recent teaching engagements in voice, piano, and drama include work with Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Winthrop University’s ‘ST-Arts’ program, Matthews Playhouse of the Performing Arts, and Gray Stone Day School among others. While completing her degrees, Caroline maintained a large private studio of voice and piano students in the Fort Mill, SC area. She has been teaching in Salisbury, NC since 2011.
Caroline also enjoys continued involvement in theatre, both as music director and performer. Most recently, she directed the musical, Big River for the Uwharrie Players. She has received nominations in acting, choreography, and musical direction from the Metrolina Theatre Association. Favorite roles include Maria (The Sound of Music), Marian (The Music Man), Laurey (Oklahoma!), Sarah (Guys and Dolls), and Lois (Kiss Me, Kate).
Caroline is married to local artist, Mark Stephenson/ They have one son, James, who was born in 2013.
