Lake Norman Orchestra To Perform Marc Hoffman Work

NC Composer to have 2nd performance by LNO

head onlySeptember 7, 2013 (Charlotte, NC) – The Lake Norman Orchestra, under the direction of Eduardo Cedeno will perform “Homeland” by NC composer, Marc Hoffman on their Saturday, September 14th concert. The 7:30 pm concert will take place at the Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church on Brawley School Rd. in Mooresville.

The LNO previously performed “Homeland” on it’s Winter 2010 concert. The theme of the concert is Celebrating the American Spirit and will feature works by American composers.

I am honored the LNO has programmed this piece again,” Hoffman said, “and am especially grateful to the players for requesting that it be included.”

An established composer, vocalist and pianist, Marc Hoffman is known throughout North Carolina and beyond for his performances as a soloist and with his trio at festivals, corporate and private events, and other venues.

Marc’s original concert, sacred and jazz pieces have been performed across the US, and in the UK, France and The Netherlands. He recently composed the score for the comedy feature film, “40 Fears” and is currently scoring the last film project by the late animator, Tom Ray.

A children’s book, Sleep Little Child, based on an original lullaby was released by Virillion Music Publishing in 2010, and a piano instructional book, Essential Worship Keyboard was released by Emerald Books in 2008.

Composer/pianist/vocalist Marc Hoffman received a bachelor’s degree in composition from the North Carolina School of the Arts and studied film composition at USC. He also attended The Dartington International Summer School of Music in Devon, England. His composition teachers have included John Corigliano, Leo Arnaud, Neil Hefti, and Sherwood Shaffer. A member of BMI and the American Composer’s Forum, he is also founder and artistic director of the Salisbury School of Music. He lives in Salisbury with is wife, Anne, and their daughter August.
